Upon their return to Farholm, the WAT Team witnessed many of the townsfolk succumbing to sight rot. Some of them blamed the adventurers for bringing the disease (which, to be fair, was 100% correct), but the mayor was more under the impression that some other force was behind the disease, and protected the adventurers. After setting up a healing station inside the now cleaned temple, the team cured the town of the sickness. In return, the town agreed to set up the temple with a shrine to Telona, with Helga “the Constrictor”, as its priestess.
To tie up some loose ends, Achariel snuck into the longhouse where the trader from the day before was resting. He was suffering from some sort of amnesia and couldn’t recall the events of his accident, so the elf took a bottle of green slime from the Sahuagin Fortress and placed it in his bag. The team did their best to convince the mayor that it was the trader who brought the disease, and the town should put him on trial.
After this, the group headed back to the watch tower, where they met up with Mildred, who told them that the Eastran Navy had caught up to the Tied Knot, and Smithers was holding the crew captive. The WAT Team created a flag with which to capture Smithers’ attention, and when a small landing party was sent to assess the situation, the WAT Team took into the water, leaving Mildred, the Wolf, and a reanimated dwarven corpse behind.
Sneaking onto the ship, the WAT Team was able to locate their crew fairly quickly, though not without being spotted. As the sailors came in to attack, Wood-Ear leapt up to the sails with a lit torch, intending to set the explosives in their cargo bay on fire. While the crew was being set free, Smithers showed up with Jim and Nate with daggers at their throats. Achariel managed to save Jim with a Grease spell, but Smithers killed Nate in retaliation. As the last of the crew made it off the ship, along with Achariel and Tamen, Wood-Ear threw the torch into the cargo bay and leapt into the water. The navy had barely enough time to get back aboard their ships before the Tied Knot exploded, destroying one navy ship and leaving the others with some serious damage. Once the WAT Team came ashore, they noticed a handful of boats coming after them. Did Smithers survive the explosion? Will the navy catach up to our adventurers? Stay tuned for next week’s adventure!
